A Vision for Life

Gain Vision

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keeps the law, happy is he.” – Proverbs 29:18

What is AVFL?

AVFL is a six-week youth discipleship program  of Calvary Chapel Bible College Europe. AVFL 2021 will be based out of Hungary. Every summer students from around the world come together as one team for 40 days to unplug from the world and plug into Jesus. Since the creation of the program in 2003, the Lord has been radically using this program to encourage, empower, and equip our students for their lives and for their future ministry.

UP-REACH

Throughout the six weeks of the program, the students will learn to prioritize worship, prayer, and personal devotional time in God’s Word. These are foundational needs in the life of a believer and our aim is to teach the students that the only way to truly gain a vision for their life is by learning to constantly reach up toward Christ Himself.

IN-REACH

Monday through Friday the students will be spending their mornings studying the Word of God with our team of pastors and teachers. These hours are focused on answering the tough questions this generation is facing, solidifying the foundations of their faith.

Their weekday evenings are filled with various events focused around discipleship and fellowship. We have purposefully immersed them in this discipleship-intensive environment so they might have the opportunity to see the things in their hearts that God wants to address. As they reach up toward Him, He reaches into them and faithfully uproots the things that are keeping them from Him.

OUTREACH

The weekday afternoons are spent in preparation for evangelism and outreach. The students will be equipped with practical tools for outreach by learning various skits, learning how to do street evangelism, learning to share their testimony, organizing different outreach events, and more.

After reaching up toward Jesus and allowing Him to reach into our hearts throughout the week, the weekends are spent reaching out to those in Europe who do not know the hope we have found in Christ.

Each week will coincide with ministry and an outreach trip. We will visit five different countries and partner with Calvary Chapel missionaries and churches throughout this area of Europe. Our goal is that the students don’t just learn about missions, but they truly live it! They will participate in street evangelism, vacation bible schools, gypsy ministry, orphanages, practical service, and so much more. They will learn to get out of their comfort zones and share their faith. People will get saved, lives will be changed, and the Kingdom will be strengthened!

Since 2003, A Vision for Life has produced lasting fruit as each student grows in the Word, steps out in ministry, and allows the Lord to impact their lives as they impact others. This is a great opportunity for them to grow, be equipped for the future, and to gain God’s vision for their lives.

Encourage the youth in your life to consider thinking bigger this summer. Encourage them to ask the Lord, “What is Your vision for my life?”

How do I pay my tuition?

Please contact us at avfl@ccbce.com for information on how to pay.

How much spending money do I need?

The amount will vary based on the spending habits of the student.  In the past, we’ve recommended $300 ($50 per week/6 weeks).  This amount should be more than enough.  Again, this is just a rough estimate.  Students have been fine bringing less as well.

How do I get cash there?

The easiest and most efficient method to obtain money is via ATM.  That said, in the past, many parents have elected to do a joint account where they can add money as needed.  Please note, most banks charge an ATM transaction fee and have a maximum daily withdrawal amount.  In order to prevent your card from being deactivated, please notify your bank and let them know that you will be making international withdrawals/transactions.

*If you are taking medication prescribed by a physician, please ensure that you bring enough medication for the duration of the program.

*FOR YOUR SAFETY* You are required to inform the director and nurse of any medications you are on.

Hungary is on a social healthcare system.  If you require any medical attention, medical fees may be paid out-of-pocket.

Upon arrival at the airport, students can contact family via the free wifi in the airport or once they arrive at the student housing.

The travel time from Budapest airport to student housing is approximately one hour.  Please note, that during the student arrival period, there may be delays in arrival times to campus due to the number of arrivals coupled with varying arrival times.

How can I access the internet?

CCBCE has free password protected wireless internet access at housing and teaching sites.

Will I need a laptop computer?

You are not required to have one. You will need something to take notes on be it a tablet, phone, or notepad.

Will my devices work on-site? (iPad, Mobile phone, etc)

Yes, these devices will work on site with our wireless internet.

Do I need a converter and/or adapter for my personal electronics?

We highly advise that you bring adapters and/or a converter in order to enable your electronic(s) and electrical item(s) to be compatible with Hungary’s electricity.

  • Converters are more expensive than adapters. Additionally, they are difficult to find once you are here. Most hair dryers, curling irons, etc. will need a converter.
  • Adapters are available for purchase in most malls and electronics shops. Most laptops, iPods or MP3 players, and digital cameras may only require an adapter.
  • In order to determine whether you will need a converter or adapter:
    • Check the transformer on your electronic or electric item to identify the range of electricity.
    • If it indicates 110-240v, an adapter is sufficient
    • Failure to use the proper conversion accessory will result in malfunction.

What personal items should I bring?

We will email you a suggested packing list. But please note that all students are asked to bring a 2-person all-weather tent which is good for rain and windy weather, a warm sleeping bag, and a good raincoat. Please contact us if you have questions concerning what else to bring at avfl@ccbce.com

Do I need to bring my own bedding and towels?

You will not need to bring bedding, as they will be provided for you.

Should you choose to, you may bring your own bedding and linens. Linens are switched out on a regular basis.

It is recommended that you bring your own towel(s), or you may purchase a towel after you arrive in Hungary.

Are there required textbooks for classes?

Your Bible and a notebook.
